We can’t believe it’s April next week, which means May isn’t too far away. And we all know what happens in May, don’t we? Foster Care Fortnight, and in 2019 it’s taking place 13th-26th May. Foster Care Fortnight is The Fostering Network’s annual campaign to raise the profile of fostering and to show how foster care transforms lives. It is also the UK’s biggest Foster Carer recruitment campaign, which aims to raise the profile of fostering and the transformational power of foster care – and this year’s theme is focused around the power to #changeafuture.

The Fostering Network often find that existing Foster Carers are the best advert for fostering. So if you are a Foster Carer, are part of a fostering family or like us here At The Acorns are part of a fostering service, The Fostering Network need your help to spread the word by telling your fostering stories and talking about the futures you have changed an how fostering has changed your future.

Over 8,000 new foster families are needed in the next 12 months alone to care for a range of children, with the greatest need being Foster Carers for older children, sibling groups and disabled children. So if you’re not a Foster Carer already, could you consider becoming one? Or if you are, encourage your friends, family and colleagues to find out more about how they could change a future by visiting The Fostering Network’s website at:
