Baydale House

Acorn Care’s Baydale House provides planned short, medium and long-term care and accommodation for young people up to 17 years. The children’s home offers a warm, therapeutic, homely living environment for young people and it aims to provide them with the opportunity to live in a setting that conveys a feeling of security and relaxation and which they are able to identify as ‘home’.

Ofsted Inspection

Run by Acorn Care and registered for the care and accommodation of up to five children who have emotional and/or behavioural difficulties, Baydale House had its latest Ofsted inspection in March this year. We are very pleased to announce that we received an overall rating of Good. An Ofsted inspection involves inspectors looking closely at the experiences and progress of children and young people, taking into consideration the quality of work and the differences made to their lives. The inspectors also observe how the staff work and the effectiveness of the care provided.

There were several strengths identified in the inspection report with Ofsted mentioning the fact that the manager and the staff build trusting relationships with the children and young people, enabling them to settle quickly. Further, they are excellent advocates of the young people supporting their views, wishes and feelings, with one young person commenting that, “The staff are brilliant. We can have a right laugh with them. The best bit about living here is definitely the staff and the activities.”

Important in any family environment is the real sense of family values, and the report found that these were present at Baydale and felt that the family atmosphere extended into meal times with all meals being taken together in the dining room.

The report also made a special mention of our team and said that our manager, Jayne Bogan, is very experienced and qualified to manage the home, and is also very well supported by the competent deputy and dedicated staff team. Quality assurance processes are also good with evidence of records, reports and key documents being regularly reviewed by the manager and her deputy.

We would like to commend Jayne and her team, and congratulate them in their achievement. They all work hard and the results achieved with the young people who come to Baydale are evident.
